A Photographer’s Experience of Cefn Coed Hospital; Lee Aspland

Last summer the doors of Cefn Coed Hospital were opened to anyone who wanted to come with their camera and create some photos of their experience. Interest in the four tours was amazing and consequently oversubscribed. Martin Thomas and Rebecca Kelly provided fascinating stories and history of the building and Lee offered photography advice and guidance. It was a tricky environment with intermittent light from natural and artificial sources and Lee suggested ways of visually illustrating how Cefn Coed felt for the photographers.

Some photographers submitted their favourites to the Judging Panel at the end of August. There were so many wonderful entries that it was a difficult job to choose the photos which best illustrated the different experiences of the hospital. The guiding principles in making the selections you see here were that a range of features, areas and styles were represented.
